Sparta Village To Develop Central Park into Housing

Sparta Village To Develop Central Park into Housing

The Sparta Village Council recently voted to subdivide Central Park into 20 lots for new homes. This is the property of the former Central School that was demolished. The Council is hoping an area developer will come forward with an interest in this property.

The lots would sell for $6000 each and are 66 feet wide by 132 feet long. The Village president, Skip Meyer, states that he is pleased with the subdivision plans by Roosien Associates.  “We hope to build a walk able subdivision that will attract new residents to our village,” said Mr. Meyer.

Some residents are not too happy about this decision, saying their children frequent this park on a regular basis, but as Mr. Meyer pointed out, there are two parks within a block of this location, Bayleaf and Rodgers Park.

The ski area says it will reopen Tuesday at 4pm with late season hours the remainder of the week.

The West Michigan Archery Center

The West Michigan Archery Center project is a wonderful example of a private/public partnership working to bring a new facility to the North Kent area that benefits the whole community, will have a regional impact, and serve as another key element in enhancing the quality recreational opportunities available inWest Michigan.

The project began as a vision of some dedicated archers to build a shooting range to enhance their growing Olympic quality and junior archery programs.  Their vision of a small building grew as they were encouraged by the Easton Sports Development Foundation to think big and seek funding through State and private sources to build a facility similar to a handful of other regional facilities scattered around the country.
