West Michigan Ski Patrols Annual Ski and Board Sale

As winter weather approaches, West Michigan Ski Patrols gear up for the largest ski swap fundraiser in the state of Michigan. The 42nd annual ski/snowboard swap and equipment sale will take place November 9, 10, & 11 at Cannonsburg Ski area located at 6800 Cannonsburg Road, Belmont, Michigan, 49306.

The 42nd annual sale is a fundraiser to benefit the nonprofit ski patrols of West Michigan including the Cannonsburg Ski patrol, Pando Ski Patrol, and the West Michigan Nordic Ski Patrol. Commissions earned from the sale go to purchase first aid supplies and life-saving equipment used to evacuate injured guests in the event of an accident or emergency. Ski Patrols do not charge for emergency care, are volunteers, and no funding from county or community.

Hard Cider available at Sietsema Orchards

Sietsema Orchards has crafted their own hard cider for guests to enjoy this fall. Guests of the orchard will be able to savor the cider inside or in an outdoor garden.

Seitsema Orchards is growing apples especially for the production of hard cider which will occur on site. The orchard hopes that growing and producing this product on site will increase self-sustainability.

The orchard hopes to rejuvenate hard cider’s All American status. They are also hoping to draw new customers  and entice wine connoisseurs. The company would like to see a cider train on the property in the future.

Sietsema Orchards opened for the season on Thursday, September 6th and will be open Thursdays & Fridays from 10-6 and Saturdays 9-6.

The orchards are located in Ada, MI and provide quality apples and a family orchard experience for West Michigan residents. Sietsema Orchards has been keeping the family farming tradition alive since 1934.

Spartan Stores rebrands Rockford's D & W Fresh Market to a Family Fare Supermarkets

Monday morning was an auspicious time for Spartan Stores' Rockford supermarket. Spartan was about to unveil extensive store improvements while at the same time showcasing the rebranding of the existing D&W Fresh Markets store to a Family Fare Supermarket.  

Prior to a ribbon-cutting ceremony officially opening the store one could hear and sense the emotion in the voice of Store Director Char Bouwkamp as she addressed those in attendance.

“Spartan Stores listened to the people of the greater Rockford community. In doing so, they have seamlessly and significantly made a major investment in the store and the community at large. The Rockford store has a long and caring relationship with the community and Spartan Stores is now proud to add ‘value’ to that mix,” noted Bouwkamp.

And Products Made In Michigan. That is the focus of EverMyHart’s Enchanted Emporium located at 25 South Squire Street in Rockford. E3, as it’s better known, is host over 30  Michigan artists, in an array of media from wall art originals or prints, to photography and more,  along with the owner’s unique, functional, hand-painted glassware. Barbara Everhart is “working her dream” and feels Rockford is the perfect location. “This is a very art-conscious and friendly community,” she said. “It really does have that Norman Rockwell feel.”

“I am honored to represent some extremely talented artists,” Everhart said. “The focus is Michigan because we need to remember that we have some very talented people right here at home. Spend your money here, keep your money here, and keep our people working!”
