Corner Bar Open Date Is Set For June 17

The 7th Annual Corner Bar Open to benefit the Down Syndrome Association of West Michigan, sponsored by The Corner Bar in Rockford, will be held Friday, June 17, 2011 at North Kent Golf Course.  There are a number of ways to participate including sponsoring a team, donating products to be used as prizes or in tee bags, sponsoring a hole or participating as a player.  Registration forms can be downloaded from the Corner Bar Open fan page on Facebook at facebook.com/CornerBarOpen

Corner Bar sends video to Man v. Food online casting call

ROCKFORD, Mich. - Several shows, including Food Network's Ice Brigade, have recently filmed episodes in West Michigan. Corner Bar is striving to add their name to the list as they recently uploaded a video to the Man v. Food online casting call.

Their hope is that host Adam Richman will visit the bar to take their famous hot dog eating challenge.

The video, produced by Eric VanHolstyn, features City Manager Michael Young talking about the history of the Rockford area and why he thinks a visit to Corner Bar would benefit the show.

Ronald McDonald to Reward Children Skiing Safe

            Grand Rapids, Mich., January 6, 2011 – Ronald McDonald will be on the slopes to promote ski safety for children. The “Caught Being Safe” program will reward children throughout Michigan who are caught skiing with helmets. Young skiers “Caught Being Safe” will receive a coupon for a free hot chocolate from McDonald’s. Partnering with McDonald’s to take the “Caught Being Safe” program to the slopes of Michigan ski resorts is the Michigan Ski Patrol and the Field Neurosciences Institute.

The Rockford Chamber of Commerce is proud to present the October installment of its popular Bi-Monthly Luncheon Series. The event is scheduled for Monday, October 4 at the Bostwick Lake Inn, 8521 Belding Rd., from noon-1:30 p.m. The featured speaker is Linda Chamberlain, Executive Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Grand Valley State University.

Chamberlain will share her knowledge and expertise in his selected field during her presentation, “Working Together to Catalyze Our Entrepreneurial Ecosystem.” Dr. Chamberlain received both her BS and Doctorate degrees in chemistry with honors from Purdue University. Dr. Chamberlain joined Shell Development Company in 1987 as a Futures Research Chemist and later moved into management of scientific and technical teams.
