ROCKFORD, Mich. (WZZM) -- Friday is National Doughnut Day, and a Rockford business is using the event as a way to help others.
Now through June 3, Bostwick Bakery is donating a quarter of its retail sales to the American Cancer Society. The shop's manager says the benefit is in honor of his grandmother, who died in October 2010.
The bakery manager hopes to raise between $1,500 and $2,000 for the organization, and, so far, it's going well.
"It was pretty steady yesterday," says bakery manager Houston Moyer. "We're expecting a lot this weekend, a lot of people on Friday, especially."
As part of this week's doughnut celebration, Bostwick Bakery is also giving away coffee to customers.
