BELMONT, Mich. (WZZM) -- Grand Rapids has seen its snowiest November ever with 29 inches of snow as of Wednesday night.

The early blast of winter gave Cannonsburg Ski Area a boost and managers had hoped for their earliest-ever opening Saturday, but the weather is no longer cooperating.

13 On Target Forecast: Weekend rain

The 13 On Target Weather team is predicting light freezing rain early Saturday morning, followed by rain later in the day.

Because of the rain, Cannonsburg is pushing back its opening until a yet-to-be-determined date next week.

In addition to the 29 inches of natural snow that's fallen, the ski area has used more than one million gallons of water to create snow and build up its base.
