67th Annual Santa Parade this Saturday

From: http://www.rockfordmichamber.com

Rockford is gearing up to welcome Santa Claus on Saturday, December 4. The parade will take place through the picturesque streets of downtown and will include the jolly man himself and plenty of floats representing area businesses and Scout troops. The City of Rockford will be decorated and will be sure to look like it is a Norman Rockwell setting, complete with thousands of twinkling lights, wreaths and boughs, and red ribbons. After the parade, children can cuddle up with Santa in the Rotary Pavilion and share their Christmas wish list. There will be crafts for the children while they wait to visit Santa. Each child will receive a goodie bag after visiting Santa.

Local photographer Michelle Wise publishes Discovery Picture Book

The picture book is titled "Discovery Through the Eyes of Children."
It's a story that began in the summer of 2002. The book is illustrated with artistic expressions of children along with waterfalls, caves, bridges and innocent beauty.

It also walks you through an intimate time I had with God, how he rescued me from darkness and reconnected me with Himself through the work that I do.

My hope is that this book will introduce people to a God who
cares and wants to have a loving relationship with them,
giving them hope and a purpose.

The books will be available by reservation.
The book signing/birthday party will be:
Sat. Dec. 18th at 4:00pm at
Wise Photography 1 N. Main St., downtown Rockford
Community is welcome :)

Last weekend of Rockfords Harvest Festival

Have ya made it down to Rockford's Harvest Festival yet? I was surprised as I went down there last Sunday after 4 pm thinking that the festival would have been pretty much wrapped up for the weekend but boy was I wrong. The Chili Contest was just getting underway with the Rockford fire dept. as judges & seemed like 1/2 the town was there sampling chili & chatting with the chefs. I left there & made my way to the dam, only to be met with a 650 pound pumpkin. Ya gotta see this thing so I provided you with a photo. As usual, The Build a Scarecrow was going strong with all the kids (& parents) using their imaginations & building Scarecrows Dorthy would have been proud of. I missed the Kids Tractor Pull but I did catch this guy Juggling Bowling Bowls & balancing a bike on his nose. Then of course the Dam was packed with artistically paint Rams, which amazed me because of the talent that painted these.

The North Kent Service Center in Rockford is changing its name

Rockford MI—For more than 20 years, the Rockford Community Services Center has been affectionately known as the North Kent Service Center, or even just the “service center.” But effective October 1, the center will be changing its name to North Kent Community Services, to better reflect what it does best… serve the community. We We are blessed to have the opportunity to help our neighbors in need in northern Kent County,”” said Sandy Waite, NKCS Executive Director. “But we also want to emphasize that we are a part of the local communities in which we serve. We want our influence to extend well beyond the walls of our facility.”

The North Kent Community Services was established 37 years ago by Rockford Area Ministerial Association (RAMA) to help deserving families and individuals in the North Kent area.
