Girl Scouts to take part in Gerald R. Ford Tree Lighting tonight

Make it a point to stroll downtown this evening for the Annual Presidential Museum Tree Lighting Ceremony at 7pm at the Gerald R. Ford Museum at 303 Pearl St. NW in Grand Rapids, MI.

For the first time in its history, Girl Scouts, with Rockford Service Unit 322, will be included in  performing the Flag Ceremony at the outdoor event.

Immediately following the tree lighting, there will be live music, a sing-along and the announcement of the 2014 Community Tree Awards.

The Community is invited to check out a variety of one-of-a-kind handmade gift items for purchase at this Craft Fair provided Rockford Seniors Unlimited.

This Saturday, 11/8/14 from 9:00am to 3:00pm, Rockford High School located at 4100 Kroes Avenue is the place to be for a holiday shopping experience, like no other.

There will be a lot of craft booths with great gift ideas, just in time for the upcoming holidays and even gift bags for sale.

There is no set schedule when city crews will pick up leaves in the neighborhood but residents are welcome to place leaves neatly in the parkway area (between the street & sidewalk). Crew will continually loop through the City.

Leaves should not be placed in the street. Biodegradable paper bags are acceptable & encouraged during this time and will be picked up on the normal schedule day.

GRAND HAVEN, MICH., SEPT. 18, 2014―In observance of United Nations’ “International Day of Peace” worldwide, the general public is invited to a local observance at St. Patrick―St. Anthony Parish to join in the dedication of a hand-crafted Peace Pole on Sunday, September 21st at 4 p.m. on the outdoor south side of the church, at 920 Fulton Avenue in Grand Haven.

“Pope Francis has asked all people to observe the upcoming International Day of Peace no matter whether they attend church or not and we welcome anyone who is interested to join us as we dedicate this long-lasting monument to peace,” said Sally Moser, an International Day of Peace event organizer with St. Patrick-St.
