Rockford Community Gardens Take Root: Get Your Plot Today! | Community Spirit

Ever dream of having your own garden, planting the crops and hauling in a bountiful harvest throught the growing season?  Rockford Public Schools Community Services is now offering Rockford School District residents the opportunity to rent a garden plot in a Community Garden.

The plots come in two sizes, 6X12 feet for $25 and 6X25 feet for $45.  The gardens will be located at East Rockford Middle School and on Lewis Street, behind the Administration Building.  Applications are available in the Rockford Community Services office, also located in the Administration Building.

The gardens will have water, composting, tool sheds, and fencing surrounding them.  Gardeners are responsible for keeping their own plots weeded and tended, and must agree to volunteer a minimum of three hours to make the gardens safe, productive and attractive.
