CANNON TOWNSHIP, Mich.—The Cannon Township Board is opting out of purchasing properties along Sunfish Lake Avenue, adjacent the township trail.

The board decided against purchasing the land during its regular meeting July 22.  During the session, board members approved a resolution proclaiming POW/MIA day in September.

The board also heard a mailing address request from the Rogue River Watershed group.  The group, which had been operating under the Grand Valley Metropolitan Council, recently decided to split off to form its own non-profit organization, making Rogue River Watershed citizen led instead of government led.  Members of the Rogue River Watershed requested use of the city’s mailing address as they file paperwork to pursue a 501 C3 status.
