A special event Wednesday, March 21st, will raise money for the Rockford Police Department to buy a robotic car to help officers educate students.

The fundraiser, "Dogs for Dollars" will take place Wednesday, at The Corner Bar from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The proceeds will help to purchase the robotic car, called "PC the Patrol Car."  It's designed to maneuver in classrooms and other tight spaces.   The car appeals to students with its headlights, flashing emergency lights, moving eyes and eyelids and a speaker and microphone.  It'll help officers teach kids about personal safety, peer pressure, bullying and more.

You need a special coupon to participate in the fundraiser.  You can find it at the Rockford Police Department, the downtown Welcome Center, or you can print one online at The Corner Bar website under "Dogs for Dollars."   By using the coupon, a portion of your bill will go toward the robotic car fund.
