Elderly siblings take on zipline course

BELMONT, Mich. (WZZM) -- Three siblings, Rod Moedel, Ruth Broyles and Carol Cardinal gathered at Cannonsburg Ski Area to celebrate Ruth's 80th birthday on Saturday. Carol says she wanted to go ziplining with her siblings as part of Ruth's birthday celebration.

"I loved just laying back and watching the sky go by on top of the trees. It's a lot of fun," said Carol.

"I'm just really proud of my brother and sister for coming out. He's 75, she's 80 years old. This is her birthday present. I wanted to take her out on the zipline. She talked about it before and we thought we'll do it," and so they did.

The story of these three siblings is not just one of celebration. It's also one of inspiration.

Both Ruth and Rod have battled with cancer and they are cancer survivors.

"I've had cancer, that's why I talk different," said Rod.
